McMahon-Murphy connection

In 1970, my aunt Marie McMahon married Terence Murphy. They both lived in London and the marriage was officiated by a Catholic priest, Father McCormick.

I remember Father McCormick because he would visit our family as my parents had decided not to send me or my sister to a Catholic school. So in order to have first communion and confirmation, we had to attend religious education classes. The ones preceding first communion were run by nuns – the Sisters of Mercy (though I don’t recall mercy being one of their stronger qualities!).
